GREETING AND OPENING STATEMENTS Welcome. I am so happy to be here, a part of this incredible event---the joining of two beautiful hearts, two precious lives, into one. The two of you stand before God and this company as a testament to the universality of love, a powerful reminder that true love transcends convention and creates genuine courage. When you find the right person with whom to share your life, you find yourself. That person is the person who helps you to be who you truly are. I know that this is what you have found in one another. Your honesty, your friendship, the respect and genuine affection you show one another...these are the things that will be a blessing to you throughout your lives...this is the bond that will keep your relationship strong and happy for all the days and years to come. You have  found something that unfortunately, many people in this life find elusive. Happily, you each are among the truly blessed in this life....to be standing here today, about to take this step with the person your heart chose for you....it is the greatest joy in human existence. Therefore, It is in the spirit of joy and celebration that I call upon the essence of God and Universal Love to fill the air and fill our hearts as we rejoice into he love that Cheryle and Sherri share. I ask God that this couple be blessed with a lifetime of good health, good fortune, and good nature as they meet the challenges and receive the tender mercies of each new day. Cheryle and Sherri, I understand that you each have a reading of special significance that you would like to read to one another. Cheryle, would you like to start? (Cheryle reads) Sherri.... (Sherri reads) CONSENT If you are indeed, ready to say the solemn vows that will unite your lives forever...and enter into this union with free minds and hearts, please indicate as much by joining both your hands together. To be her friend and her beloved, respect her individuality, and help her give flight to her dreams? Do you promise to make her love a priority and remain faithful to her always? EXCHANGE OF RINGS And now we have come to the time when each of you will exchange a very special gift with your beloved. As the rings are about to exchange have no end so your love should have no end. As often, as either of you see them, you will be reminded of this moment and the endless love you promised. Today these two lives will be joined in one unbroken circle. As long as you remain positioned in the center of that circle, and allow that circle of love to protect you and your relationship, there is nothing outside you that can touch or taint your love for each other. Every time either of you looks at these rings, your love will be strengthened, and you will be reminded anew of the endless love you promised today. Cheryle, please take the ring you have chosen for Sherri and place it on her finger... repeating after me these words. I give you this ring as a symbol of my eternal love. With all that I am... and all that I have... I honor you. As I have given you my hand to hold And my heart to cherish, So I give you my life to keep. Sherri, please take this ring you have chosen for Cheryle and place it on her finger... repeating after me these words: I give you this ring as a symbol of my eternal love. UNITY CANDLE All of the things you have done and said here today amount to a symbolic prayer that God will not only enhance and bless your uniqueness as individuals; but, will also make your hands one hand...of your hearts one heart... and of your lives, one life. I ask now that you each take a candle   and light the unity candle together to symbolize that today you become as one....hand in hand, heart to heart, flesh to flesh, and soul to soul. When the flames of individual candles join together, a single brighter light is created from that union. May the brightness of this light shine throughout your lives, giving you courage and reassurance in the darkness. May this warmth give you shelter from the cold, and may its energy fill your sprits with strength and joy. In marriage, we share our home, our hearts, our light, all the elements that sustain us. May your love for each other light your lives on this day, and all those that follow. PRAYER Let us pray God of Love and Light, bless this couple and give them the strength to weather life?s storms, the faith to trust in you, in each other, and in the sacred bonds of marriage, and the love to carry them through this life and beyond in the state of perfect union that you intend for them. Bless them with friendship, health, and prosperity. And let them always remember to be thankful for the gift they have found in each other. Let their home be a sanctuary, a place of comfort, rest, peace,  and joy to the two of them and to the new family created here today. Let all who cross their path be touched by the light of their love, and let them be touched by nothing but goodness and right. We ask this of you with joyful, grateful, and humble hearts....... Amen. CLOSING AND PRONOUNCEMENT I would like to read for you a passage of scripture, often quoted at weddings...often it is not noted that thes words are spoken in the bible by two people of the same sex. This passage is the very definition of marriage. It?s basically about truly becoming one with another person, loving them so much that your only desire is to share everything with them....so listen now to the words that Ruth spoke to Naomi. May these words go with you and be yours forever: And Ruth said to her: 'Entreat me not to leave you, or to return from following after you. For whither thou goest I will go, and whither thou lodgest I will lodge: and your people will be my people, and your God, my God. And where you die I will die and there I will be buried. May the Lord do so to me and more if anything but death parts me from thee.' And so....Sherri & Cheryle.....Your vows having been spoken and rings exchanged as symbols of your promise, and of your love, and of your spiritual, emotional, and physical union, I now pronounce that from this moment, and for all eternity, your hearts and lives are joined together as one.
